About AFES 2027

The ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) is the premier regional organization uniting the national endocrine societies of Southeast Asia under a shared and resolute vision: to advance the science, education, and clinical practice of endocrinology across the ASEAN region. AFES currently represents eight member nations, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Collectively encompassing a population of over 680 million people navigating one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving healthcare landscapes.

The region served by AFES carries a disproportionately high burden of endocrine and metabolic disease. Escalating rates of diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, obesity, dyslipidemia, and other endocrine conditions. Driven by rapid urbanization, demographic transition, and shifting lifestyle patterns demand coordinated regional action, shared scientific expertise, and a robust platform for knowledge exchange. AFES exists precisely to meet this demand: serving as the collective scientific conscience of endocrinology across Southeast Asia, and ensuring that clinical advances reach the clinicians and patients who need them most.

The AFES Congress, is the federation’s flagship event uniting endocrinologists, researchers, clinicians, and allied health professionals from across ASEAN and the broader Asia-Pacific in a forum defined by scientific rigor, clinical relevance, and collegial exchange. Each congress reflects the federation’s commitment to raising the quality of endocrine care across member nations, building the next generation of endocrine specialists, and fostering collaborations that transcend borders.

The 24th AFES Congress, convening in Malang, Indonesia, marks the third occasion that Indonesia has had the honor of hosting this prestigious gathering, a testament to Indonesia’s growing stature as a center of endocrine science and education in Southeast Asia. United with KONAS PERKENI XIV under the theme “Endocrine Horizons: Innovating Access Across Asia,” and welcoming over 2,000 delegates from more than eleven countries across ASEAN, East Asia, South Asia, and the Pacific, the 24th AFES Congress stands to be the most expansive and impactful edition in the federation’s history and a landmark moment for endocrinology across the region.
